Tours & Activities in Cairo

This 5-day Nile cruise begins in Luxor, where travelers board a traditional-style cruise ship for a journey south along the Nile River to Aswan, with an excursion to Abu Simbel. The itinerary includes stops at some of Egypt’s most well-known ancient temples and sites, allowing passengers to experience the grandeur of the pharaonic era alongside the tranquil flow of the river. Each day combines leisurely sailing with guided visits to temples and monuments, culminating in an early morning hot-air balloon flight over Luxor’s West Bank. The cruise then proceeds to Aswan, where visitors can admire the Temple of Philae and the High Dam before taking a long trip to Abu Simbel to see the colossal temples carved into the mountainside. Key stops include the Karnak and Luxor Temples on the East Bank of Luxor, where towering columns and intricate hieroglyphics provide a silent testimony to the worship of ancient Egyptian deities. The West Bank offers the Valley of the Kings, where tombs of pharaohs like Tutankhamun are found, their walls adorned with colorful scenes of the afterlife. The hot-air balloon ride before dawn reveals the silhouettes of palm trees, the Nile’s ribbon, and scattered villages as the sun rises. In Aswan, the Temple of Philae stands on an island, surrounded by shimmering blue waters, dedicated to the goddess Isis. The imposing Abu Simbel temples, relocated from their original sites to avoid flooding, display massive statues of Ramses II and intricate carvings inside the rock-cut chambers. Groups are typically small to medium-sized, allowing for a more intimate experience with the guide who offers detailed narratives about the sites’ history, mythology, and significance. Transport includes the cruise ship itself, which has comfortable cabins and dining facilities, as well as motorized boats for island visits and a private bus for the Abu Simbel transfer. The hot-air balloon flight is conducted by experienced pilots, offering a smooth and quiet ride. The tour balances active excursions with time to relax on deck, watching the riverbanks slide by. This tour appeals to travelers with a keen interest in ancient Egyptian history and architecture, those who appreciate slow travel by water, and people who enjoy early morning flights that provide a different perspective on archaeological landscapes. It suits individuals who can handle moderate walking on uneven terrain and are comfortable with early starts and long but scenic drives.

This full-day guided tour from Cairo offers an extensive journey through some of the most well-known archaeological sites in Egypt. Starting early in the morning, the tour begins with a comfortable hotel pickup in Cairo or Giza, followed by a short drive to the Giza Plateau. Visitors will spend the morning walking among the legendary pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, along with the enigmatic Great Sphinx. Afterward, the itinerary moves south to Saqqara, the vast necropolis that houses the Step Pyramid of Djoser, the oldest known pyramid structure in Egypt. The day concludes with a visit to Memphis, the ancient capital of the Old Kingdom, where visitors see colossal statues and ruins that reflect Egypt's early dynastic grandeur. At Giza, the pyramids rise sharply against the desert sky, their massive limestone blocks catching the light as the sun climbs. The Great Sphinx, with its lion's body and human head, sits guard, its weathered face whispering tales of ancient rituals. Moving on to Saqqara, visitors encounter the stepped contours of Djoser's pyramid, surrounded by tombs adorned with intricate reliefs depicting daily life and religious offerings. Memphis reveals a quieter scene of sprawling ruins and a giant alabaster statue of Ramses II, sprawled on its side, evoking the scale and power of Egypt’s early rulers. The tour is typically conducted in small groups to maintain an intimate experience, led by an Egyptologist guide fluent in English who provides detailed commentary at each site. Transportation is arranged in an air-conditioned vehicle, ensuring comfort during the desert drive between locations. Lunch is included, offering traditional Egyptian dishes served at a local restaurant, allowing guests to sample fare such as koshari or grilled kofta. Hotel transfers at the start and end of the day add convenience, with pickup and drop-off arranged from most central Cairo and Giza hotels. This itinerary suits those with a keen interest in ancient Egyptian civilization and archaeology, as it delves deeply into the foundational sites of Egypt’s dynastic history. It is also ideal for travelers who appreciate structured tours with expert guidance and prefer a comprehensive schedule that covers multiple significant landmarks in one day.

Highly recommended when in Zamalek! Food is excellent and the ambience is amazing too. We enjoyed breakfast here very much. Shout out to Chef Mitu, Omar, & Ibrahim who served us, you made our stay very memorable.
I had breakfast at "La Terrace" every morning, and I really like the ambiance, the interior and the view over Zamalek. Compliments to the service staff and the cooks. In addition to my first comment, I can say that dinner at the evening was very good as well. Tasty and tastefully prepared meals.
Excellent food! We ordered some fried shrimp that, to our great surprise, came as mini burgers — they were exceptional. We had two glasses of a delicious, fruity, and excellent Egyptian rosé. For the main course, we chose a beef burger and a fried chicken burger — both very good and carefully prepared. To finish, we treated ourselves to a brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The location is very charming and intimate, the service is friendly and attentive, thank you Sama, and the prices are average for Cairo — perfect if you want to eat something good and safe
